How "1989"alludes to "The Great Gatsby" in SO many ways (11)

One of my greatest loves in the literature world is F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby." The new movie with Leonardo Dicaprio is my absolute favorite and has few flaws in my mind. I could go and on about Gatsby though, instead I plan to explain how it relates to Taylor Swift's new CD: "1989", and my future in blogging.

Taylor Swift was my favorite artist growing up and a part of me still can't give up her tunes. I'm not as avid of a fan as I once was, but I do know all the words to every song. After listening to her new CD during my commute to work every day, I began to make connections between her lyrics and my favorite novel. To my pleasant surprise there were dozens.

From the very beginning, Track 1: "Welcome to New York" clearly relates to Nick Carraway first arriving on Long Island in 1922.

Halfway through, Track 10: "How You Get The Girl" directly outlines Nick's instructions to Gatsby on how to win back Daisy.

Until the very end of the deluxe edition, Track 16: "New Romantics" relating to the famous flappers of the 20s.

Stay tuned for a thorough song analysis of every track on "1989", coming Christmas Break 2014.
